On the weekend Joe and I had planned to go to the Muir Woods just north of San Fran across the Golden Gate Bridge however when we arrived at the woods the parking lots were full! With Joe’s knee injury it wasn’t really feasible to park really far away from the entrance. By the time we’d get to the entrance he would have been done.
We decided to skip the woods in favour of a drive up to Mount Tamalpais. Funny when we arrive the entrance was closed too. Anyway making lemon aid from lemons we decided to stop at a lovely little inn which overlooks the valley for a light lunch.
The inn, Mountain Home Inn, has a wonderful wood deck overlooking the valley and since the weather was fabulous we couldn’t think of a better place to relax and have a bite to eat. We didn’t have high expectations however of the food. You know how these places usually are, you pay for the view not necessarily the food.
Joe and I shared a pulled pork sandwich and I had a glass of organic cranberry juice. To my pleasant surprise, the juice, I know it’s just juice, was amazing. The sandwich too was delicious and served with fresh cut fries and a fresh made coleslaw. It always surprises me how good simple food can taste when made with fresh ingredients.
The service too was great. I would highly recommend a visit if you are in the area, great place to take pleasure in the beautiful view.
