Live it or capture it, that is the question

July 24, 2008

In my last post I mentioned that I didn’t have a picture of the woman I referenced because I don’t like to carry a camera. I also mentioned I would post on that later, this is that post.

Here’s my thing, first I do not like to carry any more stuff than I absolutely need. I travel light. I can easily pack enough for a two to three week vacation in a carry one, excluding ski vacations of course, all that clothing it bulky! Secondly I like my purse to be light also, I remove as much stuff as possible so it is really light. The reason for this is that I find that my back hurts with the weight of a purse on a shoulder. To some degree I have solved that problem by buying a purse that crosses the body, this helps on two ways, first to spread the weight but almost as important, it leaves free hands for shopping (I’ll post on shopping clothing later). Thirdly I would rather live the moment than fuss with trying to capture it, hence the title of this post.

When I go on vacation, generally I do take a camera and when I take pictures I do love to have them to remember the sights/experiences etc however at the time I really find taking pictures a pain in the behind. So this for me is a constant struggle especially now that I have this blog when there are many things that I would like to capture and post but I don’t have a camera with me. Furthermore, I just spent a bundle on a camera which I can use for taking pictures of the jewelry on Pangea Collection and it is way too big and heavy to lug around. The old camera that I have it smaller but the quality isn’t that great. I hate to spend even more to buy another camera for travel but maybe that’s what I’ll have to do.

Love to hear how you manage to live the moment and capture it at the same time, feel free to drop me a line and share your thoughts.

Happy experiencing…

Don’t Judge A Blueswoman By Her Dress

July 21, 2008

Hello,

The Blues Festival in Mont-Tremblant has come and gone for another year. I’ve been terrible at writing blogs this month – sorry about that!

We’ve all heard the expression, don’t judge a book by it’s cover or a wine by it’s label, well here in Mont-Tremblant, I learned you can’t just a woman by her outfit.

At a concert one night there was a very conservative looking woman (I don’t have a picture because I hate carrying a camera (another post coming on that topic) but I will try to describe the look, think of this as a book. She had medium length, thick dark hair which had been pulled tightly back into a pony tale which was adorned with a pink silk flower, one of those whispy petal flowers that are big and full. She wore big wire rimmed glasses, the type you think of when you picture a stereotypical librarian. She was wearing a matching pink flowing top with white casual pants that had been rolled up a couple of time to make them capri length. On her feet were those velcro sandals that you often see men wearing with socks! Okay so now hopefully you have a mental picture in your mind. Do you imagine this women screaming out “Far out with the Fender guitar” and whooo hoooing all night long while waving her arms in the air?

My husband and I watched her all night with smiles on our faces, yes we found it a little funny, but more than that we took great pleasure in her taking so much pleasure in the music. She actually added to our experience at the concert. She has a great attitude and was enjoying her every minute of the concert.

So I say, “far out blueswoman with the pink silk flower hair, far out!”

Posts from Mont Tremblant – Blues Fest

July 6, 2008

Hello I am here in Mont Tremblant for the 15th annual blues fest. We are now on day 3. Opening night was a great one, good music and very relaxing. Last night was Johnny Winter, even though he is really getting up in years, he can still really play. It’s amazing.

If you are not into blues, let me tell you the range of music offered at the festival has a wide range, everything from folk, gospel, traditional blues, blues rock, blues jazz and swing. Most everyone can find a group/performance that would appeal to them.

The weather too has been amazing. Beautiful scenery all around, and lots of physicall actitives to keep you busy during the day.

Happy July!

Happy Birthday Canada

July 1, 2008

Today is Canada day, so happy birthday Canada!

Funny I happen to be in Mont-Tremblant Quebec today for Canada day. The thing is Quebec does not really embrase Canada day. The bigger celebration was last week, St Jean Baptiste day.

In any case, it is wonderful to be in such a beautiful part of the country on our national birthday.

I read there is a shortage of fire works – how will be celebrate this day without the traditional fireworks? In true Canadian fashion, low key, quiet national pride.

Have a wonderful day!
More posts from Mont-Tremblant once I get better internet connect up here in the mountains. I will be posting on the wonderful Blues Festival I mentioned a couple weeks ago.

Cheers!
