Wow everywhere I look these days I’m seeing Tribal Influences as the latest hottest fashion for Spring/Summer 2008. It’s in all the latest issues of fashion magazines, all of the trend magazines, everywhere.
If you have been coming to the Pangea Collection site since our launch last April you will know, while we don’t necessarily subscribe to “trends” we do find ourselves in the middle of quite a few. We’ve been carrying the Kenyan Jewelry Collection since launch, I guess we could say we’re ahead of the trend.
Here at Pangea Collection we love beautiful jewelry, jewelry that looks fantastic today and in ten years. It might happen that our Kenyan Jewelry Collection is super hot for Spring but we think it will still be hot whether it’s featured in a magazine or not (which it will be in June). We love cultural traditions not just because they’ve hit the runways but because they are reflections into this beautiful world we live in. We can also dream a little about an exotic land while proudly wearing a piece of cultural art.
We too can hold our heads a little higher knowing that we’ve contributed to, in the case of the Kenyan Collection, artists who are part of a Fair Trade Organisation. And as an added bonus we’re not paying some of those crazy prices I’ve seen lately for an imitation of the authentic version. Pangea Collection’s Tribal Influence pieces range from $20 to $50.
