The Washroom Advantage

April 10, 2007

Hello Ladies,

We all know the experience of waiting in a long line up to use the loo, when our male counterparts seem to be right in and out in no time, yes I’m still talking about the loo. I have discovered the one place where we ladies have the advantage. European Airports, assuming you’re on a scheduled airline and not a charter. The facilities right after deplaning are always lined up for the men but us ladies, we’re the ones right in and out in no time flat.  The reason, the business world in Europe is still dominated by men. I once counted only 8 women on an entire flight from Paris to Geneva. Maybe there is more than a washroom advantage? Single, working girls, get yourself to Europe, pronto.

For the love of shoes

April 10, 2007

I love shoes, I really love them. In fact I love them so much that I included shoes on my CV/resume as a passion (I actually think it helped me land an interview).

I have always loved shoes but I think the height of my obsession hit while living in Europe. I could not go out on a weekend with out picking up at least one pair. I bought shoes wherever I traveled. On one weekend trip to Barcelona with a girlfriend, I bought five pair. I needed another bag to get them home.

I’m not one of those girls that drops a paycheck on a single pair. I get such a rush from great finds, sometimes in unusual places. My collection includes a range of boots from purple suede to cherry red leather to the standard black, umm I think I have just under 10 pairs in black. I have strappy ones, ones that lace with ribbon, a nice little collection of ballerinas in every colour, then there’s the casual collection, lace up, slip on…you get the picture.

I have to say though that since returning home from Europe I haven’t bought a single pair and it’s been almost a year! Is it possible that I’ve fallen out of love? The infatuation is over! Will I soon be coveting another accessory?

For the love of shoes, could someone please recommend a great place to buy chic, sexy, fun and funky yet affordable shoes in Toronto? Otherwise, I think I’ll be forced to take a little trip over the ocean.
